An older woman stands by a window in an empty house. Her daughters have flown the nest. As she waits for them to call, their memory is brought to life.

HER MOTHERS’ DAUGHTERS explores the relationship between mothers, daughters, memory and imagination.

Commissioned by RTE, the Arts Council of Ireland and Filmbase as part of the RTE Dance-On-The-Box scheme, it screened in Temple Bar in April 2010 and was broadcast on RTE shortly after.

Written and directed by Oonagh Kearney.

HER MOTHERS DAUGHTERS was selected for DVD by Tenderpixel Gallery in London as part of their experimental film compilation for the Aesthetica International Short Film Competition and distributed in the 2011 January edition of Aesthetica Magazine.

The film was selected for the London ‘Art on the Underground’ programme at Canary Wharf Screen in 2014 and screened at the BFI and the National Theatre in London as part of events to celebrate International Womens’ Day.
