NOTIONS travels to MIPCOM with David Crean and RTE.

Development completed by Tyrella Pictures on BLÁTH, a half-hour drama with TG4 as part of their Céim Eile scheme, with writers Shannon Welby, Seán Mac Dhonnagháin and script editor Emma Keveaney.

Oonagh works with writer Cristín Leach on adapting Cristín’s debut book NEGATIVE SPACE for the screen with the support of an Arts Council of Ireland Agility Award.

With the support of RTE and producers Yvonne Donoghue and Katie Holly of Keeper Pictures, Oonagh leads a writers room in Cork for her TV drama series NOTIONS with screenwriters Mike O’Leary, Margaret Perry and Ray Lawlor.

Oonagh is commissioned to direct NEVER KILL A FEM BOY ON THE FIRST DATE for Virgin Media Discovers with writer Lee-Loi Chieng and producer Aoibhín Murphy of Yellow Films.


July 2023

 

Oonagh’s feature film SNOW IN BEARA receives development funding from Creative Europe as part of slate funding awarded to EZ Films with producers David Power, John Kelleher, Dave Clarke and Ciarán Deeney.

Tyrella Pictures is commissioned to develop BLÁTH, a half-hour drama with TG4 as part of their Céim Eile scheme. Inspired by a chapter in Úna-Minh Kavanagh’s personal memoir ANSEO, Oonagh is working with writers Shannon Welby, Seán Mac Dhonnagháin and script editor Emma Keveaney.

Oonagh is nominated for Best Debut Director at the New Voice Awards in London for VARDY v ROONEY: A COURTROOM DRAMA.

Oonagh leads a screenwriting workshop on BLUE IN THE WILD, a new Film Commission supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, at Backstage Theatre in Longford with producer Lara Hickey, script executive Sarah Aherne and writer/performer/poets Derek Ugochukwu, Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi and Felicia Olusanya. Supported by a Backstage Theatre Residency Award, Copper Alley Productions and Tyrella Pictures.


APRIL 2021

 

Oonagh is awarded a Markievicz Award and begins development of a new outdoor Covid-compliant live music-and-dance event called BIRDIE, inspired by life and legacy of Kate ‘Birdie’ Conway. Working with with DJ/composer Ellen King and producer Lorraine Maye and supported by Cork Midsummer Festival and the Cork City Council Commemoration Fund, BIRDIE will premier at the Cork Midsummer Festival in June 2021. Oonagh travels to the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig to write a new draft of SNOW ON BEARA. Huge thanks to Cork County Council for their support.

Oonagh travels to Torino to take part in the TFL Extended Story Editing TV Lab with our TV series NOTIONS.


FIVE LETTERS TO THE STRANGER WHO WILL DISSECT MY BRAIN screens at the 10th Underwire Film Festival in London on Sat. 21st Sept at 4pm in the Barbican Centre. We are nominated for Best Editing (Cara Holmes), Best Cinematography (Eleanor Bowman) and Best Direction (Oonagh Kearney). Alongside producer Roisín Geraghty, we will all be in attendance and would love to see you there.
